# Delete a calling list

> Remove a calling list when the campaign or queue is no longer needed. Requires `lists:write`, and the credential must permit the list's workspace and owner. Send the numeric list ID; no request body is required.

Lists linked to legacy uploads are refused with `409 legacy_upload_delete_requires_app`; no records are deleted. Manage those uploads in the PowerDialer app. A list without linked uploads can be deleted while retaining its contact records. If you only want to unlink one contact, use membership deletion instead. Success returns `{id,deleted:true}`.

A persisted `Idempotency-Key` makes an uncertain delete recoverable: an identical retry returns the original success after deletion. A fresh delete of a missing or inaccessible list returns `404 not_found`. A `409 idempotency_conflict` means the operation key was reused for a different request.

See [contacts and memberships](/guides/contact-lists#list-membership).

Connect your CRM, sales workspace or reporting tools to PowerDialer using

retired. API availability was verified on 2026-10-08; see /availability for
